It falls, apart,
from the very start,
it falls apart,
seems like everything i touch, falls apart,
everything around me, falls apart,
when i walk away from you.
i wish i could but i dont,
always keep the promises i've kept,
i wish i could, but i can't,
always give, whatever i have left,
and now its all so clear,
doesnt anyone see whats happening here?
[Chorus]
I know i should but i don't
always say, what you want me to say,
i know i could but i don't
always act, like everything's ok,
and now its all so clear,
doesnt anyone see whats happening here?
[Chorus]
Everything I, have ever been made of, hates who i am,
I'm so glad you waited, can't get my mind,
off how you could love me, i'm so behind,
you're so far above me,
and you'll always be
the wind under my wings, above me
I will not let it go to waste,
I'm takin all,
i got, and leavin' this place,
and i, will not, be takin' up space,
i'll take my best shot,
i'm pickin up the pace
When i read the words “Lord did i enjoy the change that you made into my heart” i thought about how when i asked for his forgivness and asked him to wash my sins away…then when it said “i begain to walk through the maze. Here they come” i thought of when times in life are rough or when temptations come and you pass them by and stay on with the lord
I think that the main point of the lyrics was to realized that you are fully Gods! He is in control and when you repent and give yourself up to the Lord and devote yourself to Him it is almost as if you act like a Zombie. He asks you to obey and you obey you. You have to fully trust Him to live your life, you don’t know the future God is in full control. It is like God has hypnotized you with His Words and the Holy Spirit and you have given yourself to Him. DEAD to sin.
And when they ask in the lyrics Lord did I enjoy the change that you made inside my heart? I could see how a human may feel that the World seems like a much less sacrificial place to be….Maybe it is but in the end we know which is the best choice. Knowing the Truth can hurt sometimes but it is what we need. (the truth being like God’s view on a smaller scale…like recongnizing sin can be a hard truth for some people.)
hmmmm had to read through those lyrics a few times. But i think hes saying I’m obliged to obey. I’m enslaved to what you say…like some kind of zombie. Hes saying here they come, they’re all up on me…refering to sin, and change. And yet he faces the day, like a zombie and follows after God…like a zombie. Kind of like hes called to do it and has no other choice
I have to admit, the lyrics confused me a little…
But, I think that the main idea of the lyrics is to tell us that we are God’s…he is completely in charge…I’m in a maze(life), and troubles come daily, but God is still in charge, and I still obey him
The lyrics are saying what happens when God enters are life.
Im dead to sin… i walk away from the grave(death). These are both things that are true when we accept Christ into our life. We follow his every way, like a zombie! We’re a slave to God, which is a good thing by the way, like a white man during the 1800′s who buys slaves and lets them go for free and gives them food, clothing and money.
These are veryy god thoughts everyone. Now that i have read the lyrics a few more time i also think that its saying we are gods. Its a strange video and hard to follow but i did get something out of it.
first of all…AWESOME SONG! But I love the idea that while without Jesus we are slaves (zombies) to sin, that when we turn to him we can then react TO Christ like His zombies. We do way too much ‘thinking’ about stuff when it comes to obedience. I need to react more zombielike. This whole song is a tribute to Rom.6, which is and excellent chapter in an excellent book.
oooohhh I like these lyrics! The last line: “I’m enslaved to what you say”, really popped out to me. Like, I’m going to do what you say because I’m serving you and I love you. I think that the main point of the lyrics is being unafraid and comforted that God is with us. We are “dead to sin” BECAUSE of Him. (and the Holy Spirit). Um, I think there’s Isaiah 41:10 … saying don’t be afrain for I am with you… that kind of goes along with what it’s saying I think. Like, he is always there to comfort us through the MAZEEE… and difficult times in life. I like these lyrics!
Ummm…The video lost me.
But based on all the comments above the lyrics seem to make more sense. I like how Anna Marie and Charlette thought the word maze in the lyrics symboled life….Yet that video stumped me.
Wait…The video seemed like it shows the angels and the demons working on earth and how maybe the girl in the water is drowning in her sin. When they see her rise out of the water you see the demons look away…they can’t stand the glory of God. When those men were whispering into that one girls ears it was like they were tempting her.oooooo!Maybe that guy with the neclace was like the temptation of material things on earth the man.The boy was like a new child of the faith and the angel rose him up into a new life with Christ…born again. When the girl came out of the water at the end it was like she had been baptised…reborn…cleansed of her sin. WOW that it is a lot to take in! This video has so much in it. The things on the stage are like being on earth. After watching this a couple more times it was easier to notice the things happening on the stage…without getting to terribly confused. (I want a “ZOMBIE” T-Shirt – ZOMBIE PRIDE!):D
all nice comments, starting from the top. we are dead to sin and alive to Christ, like a zombie with a virus we are the living dead. what a funny turn from how we normally see it right? The Holy Spirit “infects” us and now there is nothing to fear, cuz we CANNOT die. how awesome is that? especially in light of the zombie craze right now….i love the lyrics too anna-marie one of my all time favorite songs, actually.
now the video. i think you’re on to alot of things Caroline! The video does indeed have tons of stuff in it and you’re doing a great job of deciphering. You can definitely make me a zombie shirt too lol. Can anyone tell me what the very beginning of the video is in reference to? It’s part of an old, famous story……hint hint.
over all i thought that video was really hard to follow. But, i really like what Rob said about being a zombie to sin. How we “sink” under the pressure and eventually God rises us up. Like how they rose that girl up from the water and the boy up from the ground, and its like they can see again.
I’m going to see if someone can take me to Maple Falls to use the wifi with our lap top this weekend so I can see the video… um… so I think I will blog when I see it (if I someone takes me)… I’ll go ask!
indeed no one did taketh me. : (… so I’ll try to answer number 4…. I think these lyrics play a role in our lives because it’s talking about doing as God says, at least in the last line, as I wrote about earlier… “I’m enslaved to what you say”… doing as He wants because we want to serve him. This should play out in our lives naturally, we should be working towards and wanting to do this. : )
hmmm…. Jen, like when she was in the water drowning? I took it as maybe she was like drowning in her sin…I can’t think of an old, famous, story….
My first reaction to the lyrics didn’t quite match to what my video reaction was but know I can kinda see how they would connect. Like when they say that there is no teptation I can’t evade, it is like in the video with all the temptations and how you become a zombie and follow God…dead to sin. Even we still seem to fall into sin but we recongnize it and we become zombies and follow God instead of sin… If that is understandable…
totally understandable and thanks for the honesty and still attempting the blog ball of happy! Shakespeare wrote the story of Hamlet and in it is a girl by the name of Ophelia that kills herself because the man she loves is insane and rejects her (although he’s only pretending to be insane…but that’s a whole nother story). There’s a famous painting of it and it is similar to the beginning of the video. So, I take the symbolism to be someone who is giving up to their sin. But God shows them the struggle between good and evil and she turns to God. What do you think about the guy and the diamonds in the middle of it?
From the video, it seemed to me that it was about resisting all sorts of temptations. It also made me think about how we sell ourselves to modern temptations and become a zombie to sin…how we obey it without thinking about what God whould say about it. We give our lives away to sin sometimes…and sadly, the life we live isn’t ours to begin with. I was thinking about zombies, and how they are protreyed in movies as things un-alive and controlled by someone or something else. I think that happens sometimes…we let something controll us that we shouldn’t, and we sort of become dead…
I have a feeling that I totally missed the point though
I guess the video was about how people struggle with temptations and sin, and they have to choose if they are going to do what’s right or not. But I am a little confused about the part of “but I am dead to sin like some kind of zombie.” I think it means that even though there is temptation and sin around you, you don’t interact with it, or you just ignore it and focus on God instead. Anyway, that’s just what I think. By the way, if anyone cares, I got my hair cut really short!
well, lily… you know how zombies are like.. comtrolled by other people or things… or even situations, well being controlled like that is like being dead because you have no choices or influence on anything. that’s what it means, i think.. we are controlled by sin so that we can’t even do anything, or at least we were. Then Jesus Christ would come into our lives and He buys us from sin and conrtols us instead. so now we become zombies to Him. do you get it? (do I get it??)
I’m not sure if I get it either Anna Marie… But that picture was very similar to the begining of the video. I see Charlettes thinking. Maybe the video is showing how we are controlled by sin but then God comes into our lives and we are then controlled by God instead. Like Anna Marie was saying,”so know we become zombies to Him.”
THis song speaks to what we believe and how we belong in the community in that we believe that God is the way and that sin reflects off Him in that sin can’t make an impression on us if we trust in God and to the community that means we need to show our trust in Him and people will recongnize how we deflect sin and we can make an impression to those in our community. Therefore pleasing God…This is how we bless our community by “being Jesus” we try and reflect God to our best abilities to further God’s kingdom. To do this we need to fight agains’t temptations like some examples in the video: temptaion of material things (precious items)
or the temtations from others (other people trying to make you do something that doesn’t please the Lord)
can’t wait to see your hair lily and its so nice to see you blogging. yep caroline, you are on track. i think the song and video speak to what we believe as well by being dead to sin and alive to Christ. it affects our community as we spread our zombieness to those around us preferably NOT by biting people haha. So, tell me, how do we infect those around us with our living deadness?
infect… as in… influence? Lol… um… we, with our living deadness, are zombie’s to God – being controlled by Him. Which means we obey and follow his commands. This would speak out to other people because they could see. And, as we’ve heard it, you get what you give… if we give our lives to God and we give to other people (give things like love and happiness) with our minds set right (meaning it has to be for the right reason like we talked about in Youth Group, we have to be doing these things FOR God, not for ourselves, we will recieve what God has promised: eternal life with him, which is our ultimate goal. Am I getting this? : |
yeah, i think there simply 2 lives or ways this video is getting at. first, becoming a zombie to sin, and falling under the influence of satain and letting him control your life. Then, theres the becoming a zombie for God, awakened to new life. Like when that girl rose up from the water and was “renewd”.. and reflecting his ways, and pleasing the lord with your “zombie like actions”.
I’m not sure if this has a whole lot to do with the zombie part of the conversation but i did find a verse:
2 Cor. 4:16- “Therefor we do not loose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
AGREED:) We then become zombies of god. willing to do the right thing. and to stay away from the temptation put out into the world. im not sure how to explain. so if this doesn’t make since that is why. lol

hmmm thats kinda, weird?
I agree with all these comments. I like how caroline described what she thought. it does seem like the maze resembles our lifes.
From the video, it seemed to me that it was about resisting all sorts of temptations.
