I think the lyrics mean that we need to really think about our lives, and what Hes done for us. We need to center our life around Him, not us, and we can’t forget that. We need to celebrate what really happened the day Jesus was born. At that moment, our lifes were changed forever. He died so we could live. I think this kind of matches with what we are doing for the family, and while we may not be able to go to Africa and preach, we can do God’s Will just by feeding and helping a family in our community. Because of God’s sacrifice, we should be grateful and remember what Christmas is really about.
i agree with “elizabeth the awesome”.. i wonder how many minutes go by in a day for me, that i’m not thinking about him. it’s something that i think a lot of people deal with and it’s hard to get out of that repetetiveness but we don’t show him enough gratitude for all that he’s done for us. we don’t deserve it and a lot of times we don’t show thanks!
a lot of times, people just get so wrapped up in gift giving and getting and decorating and the fun christmas songs that we forget about what christmas really stands for and why we celebrate it. it’s hard to always focus on why we have it. this song does a great job of reminding us of this. i love the line”that you were born so i might really live to look back and thinkt hat this baby would one day save me”. such a great song!

First I would like to ask what {convey} means (the first sentence) and that I think that the lyrics mean that they are recanizing that Jeus was born to die for us and they are recanizing how he saved are life, by loosing his, but he also changed our life forever(the lyrics showed.) and we need to celebrate this and praise God for this and I think we should still celabrate in all seasons not just a big celebation on December 25th but every day. in church we do celebrate this but not as much, if you know what I mean.

I think that it means that he still feels the same about life when it was Christmas and New Years, because Christmas and sorta New Years can be emotinal and very moveing enough to make people think a little more about their actions knowing that it is the day of Jesus’ birth so they should act a lot better because of it. In the lyrics I think that it is saying that they will behave and follow christ even when it isn’t a holiday like Christmas and through their life and not because of a special ocation but because it is God and you should always be following him.
I think when he says Christmas wish he means the wish for people to remember him and love each other, but really, we’ve kind of twisted Christmas around to this give me presents thing, but really we should be helping others. Hes saying that God has showed him how Christmas was really meant to be celebrated. Now he sees how God has really touched his life and his sacrifice, so he celebrates that.

When he says that he is still in the same place as new years eve, i think he means that he may have resolved to follow him, but really just didn’t, like most of our New Year Resolves, and that He found him there, not getting any better, and asking Jesus, did you realize that you would save me, and that someday i would remember and celebrate that?
i agree with ellie. every year i come up with a new resolution for what i would liek to change or do differently and so i start january 1st off great and then i’m just ok on the 2nd but by the 3rd or 4th i usually cna’t remember what my resolution was but what i should be doing is spending that time praying and thanking god for giving me another year to be able to be here and spread his word around.
i agree with elizabeth the awesome on her last comment. Because we usually do reolve to follow Christ on New Years and forget to do that throughout the year and when the next year rolls around we are still in the same place in our faith as the previous year or in years prior.
That is totally the point L.D. We resolve to do a lot, even follow Christ, but then we move on with our own lives and the next year comes around and we are in the same spot.
I think the video is trying to say at the New Years Eve part, that we don’t change, and we don’t do any good deeds without the holy spirit(I have been paying attention in sunday school!) and we are just waiting for the holy spirit. It also sort of talks about how God didn’t wait for us to come to him, instead he came to us which is pretty cool! Oh! Morgan, I can’t wait to decorate the Christmas tree! …I think that the video is saying that(just like ellie said)we need to kind of think more about worshiping God more than ourselves. and that he should be the center of our lives and not…..sugar…. 
……or even christmas(the presents I mean. But I think God should be getting the presents on HIS OWN birthday! ;P ). The video makes me feel guilty, because I really don’t put God in the center of my life all the time.Or sometimes when I hear kids take Gods name in vain, I feel like I should say something, or tell them it’s wrong…..but it’s so hard! Anyways, I also think the lyrics are saying that God always knows what he is doing, even if it seems like he is being cruel, or putting himself on the cross for no reason(but there was a really good reason!). And I have asked kids not to use the lords name in vain, but they just ask why it’s bad and I tell them that he is my lord and I respect him, but they mostly just ignore me and try to get on my nerves by useing it over and over again. So I don’t anymore. This song does make me feel guilty to Lily and I don’t like it at all!

What I was trying to do was show that what we should be doing every day, we only do on christmas, easter, ect. When really we should be doing it every day!
i agree with amy. a lot of the times we go out of our way to give thanks to god on days that we’re supposed to like easter and christmas; days that everyone makes a big deal about and if you grew up like me, you always got a ton of presents from santa and the easter bunny as well as family and friends. when it gets to be this time of year, i am constantly trying to get my apartment decorated and make sure i didn’t forget anyone on my christmas list when that should be the least of my thoughts. i should be thanking god that jesus was born and that i am saved because of him and not thinking about what someone got my for christmas. it’s a hard habit to break but i’d like to start being better about it!

I think that the words match up with the song because both are obviously about Jesus being born
! Another way they are related is like when the song says “did you realize that you would be my savior,” the guys in the video seemed kind of unsure at first that a baby was going to be much help, but then they seemed to sort of understand, I guess, that he would be king…or I am not exactly sure…that was sort of a guess… 
. But it is so weird to think that a baby KNEW what he had to do, it is confusing though, because he couldn’t even talk, but he knew everything. Wait….I just confused myself more! If Jesus knew what he was going to do, then couldn’t he talk? I am so confused!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I think the video matches up because in the beginning he talks about how Jesus touched His life when he met Him and the video shows the guy meeting Him and it kind of makes him look like he realized something, or he realized that “Wow this baby is important. Hosanna!” At the end, when the light shined through, and everyone was watching, and realizing that that was Jesus and maybe they were wondering if Jesus knew that He changed there life.
I agree with Ellie, people who don’t get presents could still be content by just worshiping god instead. Sometimes people with not very many belongings seem to be fine with what they already have and don’t have, and people that have a lot just want more and more!

Yes, Kenzie that was an awesome movie. At some points it reminds me of the lord, because through the 1st 2nd and 3rd movie Aslan is gone and it seems like he had abandoned him. Like how somtimes it seems like God abandons us when there is tough times, but he is still watching over us. And that kinda elaborated on what Kenzie said about Aslan’s “other name” And If I were in Prince Caspian’s I would have chose to go to Aslan’s country(Besause It’s Heaven!!!!!).

I think that when the shepherd left, it was like he was going to leave and tell everyone about Jesus being born, because he looked so happy when he saw Jesus for the first time. Its awesome how they portray the kings face, like waking up on Christmas with a brand new flat screen TV, and they are just… awestruck, I think they got pretty close to what they must have really been feeling.

Jesus was from the tribe of Judah and He is referred to as “the Lion of the tribe of Judah” pretty cool huh? Also, we see the lion symbolism in the Bible when it talks about Jesus returning and the lion will lay down with the lamb. He is fierce and ferocious, but also loving and gentle. Do you every think about Him being fercious? Read the first two chapters of Revelation and tell me if Jesus looks like a flower lol.
Looking at the last question at the top and relating them to the lyrics tell me how you can take what we know….things like how Jesus was God in tiny baby human form knowing he would be crucified for your sins, and how we are to live holy lives like we’re talking about in Sunday school and make your life different for you and God, then for the body of believers, and then for people around you. and don’t you dare tell me “to be nice to losers”…tell me how it changes you first.

This song also shows how we belong in a community because when we go around insultng people it is really stupid looking on our part becaause we have no care about others and Jesus died for others, therefore is disrespecting god and jesusa in a harmful way and not being christ-like and to belong to a community you should be respecting the others in it. I know this is off subject, but me and my friend were just trying to spread Gods word when we gave our Athiest friend a Bible, but today we found out that when she got home she ripped it up and burned it because she thought that we were trying to change her into somthing that she’s not and it really hurt us both to know think that she would burn a Holy Bible and it was very, very offensive.

My mom told me that God(she isn’t certain)came into a human form, so he was a normal human child, but then again he wasn’t a sinner. So I guess…Jesus didn’t know who he was when he was born? It doesn’t seem right to say that though…maybe he did actually know, because I don’t think it says in the bible when Jesus figured out who he was, so he must have known right from the start. I think this means that we should live everyday like it’s Jesus Birthday. We should act like we are grateful for His birth by showing compassion to those who need and sharing the story of Jesus to those who want it and need it.

i wonder why a lot of non believers celabrate CHRISTmas? because if they DONT believe in God or Jesus, why would they celebrate his birthday? one of my (i think) non believer friends celebrates christmas. do they TRUELY not know what christmas is, do they try to lie to themselves and make up another meaning for it? itd confusing. but im NOT going to ask her!!!!!!!
cool observation! I’ve thought that too. Listening to the radio and all these non-christian singers are singing beautiful songs celebrating the birth of Jesus! and don’t have a clue about who He really is! I think it’s cool! God IS and WILL be glorified….He uses creation, us and even non-believers to do it! Awesome!

That is very creepy!….wait,a picture of KRIS in his room?! Thats just nasty!?!?! Okay, anyways, I read Exedus 18, but still need to read the other two, but 18 is mostly talking about how Moses’ father-in-law(Jethro)is giving him advice on what to do to help the people of Israel, such as choose a few people from the group and have them be leader of smaller groups, and deal with the little problems and bring the bigger problems to Moses. Moses did everything his father-in-law said and…. well I’m not quite there yet. wait a minute and I’ll finish reading 19+20 ……………………………………………………………2 hours later………………………………………:)…………………………………..1 minute later…………..KKKKEEENNNzzzzzzIIIEEE!…. Yay!! I’m Done!the 19th chapter talks about how Moses goes up on to Mount Sinai and God is On the mountain that God only alowed Moses and Aaron on, and had Israel on certin limits around the Mountain. In verse 23 it says “The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, ‘Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’” In chapter 20 it is God saying all the cammandments: thou shall not steal; thou shall not murder; ect. It also says that tha Israelites should have an alter for sacrafices and the alter should be holy and we/them should have no Idols, and that his name should be honored, and God will come and bless you/them/us.
(: (hehehehehehehe) it was a really interesting chapter to read.
Haha yeah just consider Amy lucky she got one of Steve…:) So Jen, I was reading Exodus 18:17-23 and it was about Jethro, Moses father in law, and he was telling Moses a system for court, and it sounds a lot like the one we have today, someone tell someone minor, if its big, then it goes up from there. So was our Court system based on that?
Eliz the Awesome, you said earlier we should “act” like we are grateful. I’m sure you meant we should “be” grateful all the time. Isn’t Christmas a wonderful time when people are so loving and giving? What if we did this everyday? Is that not putting “Christ” into the Christmas message? What are non-believers celebrating? To quote Randy Stonehill and my favorite Christmas song: “I wonder if this Christmas they’ll begin to understand……”
Who will help them understand? If we Christians did our job and celebrated Christ-mas everyday – I wonder??????
Yeah, I meant the we should show that we’re grateful for Jesus everyday, because then, people would see a change in us. It should show on our faces, in our words, in our actions, that we’re grateful for Him. Then people wouldn’t need presents and cookies to make them happy. They would only need the Word.

i really liked the candle light service!!!! i always love it!!!! its 1 of my fave. parts about christmas! my grandparent( the ones who dont go to church,not chick & judi) always go! my computer screen was just doing something weird. it was going up and down while i was typing!!!! i think its haunted!!!!!!!!

…… a few minutes later. i read exodus 18. it was about Jetho and Moses. Jethro was delighted with teh wonders of God. but he got upset when he found out that Moses was the only judge. so they set up a full court!!!!
you and Ellie make a lot more sense than I did when I explaned it, and his father in law sugjested back up people to deal with the little things and so moses took care of the hareder things and bigger things, I hope that made at least a little bite of sense?! I also wanted to say that Vince Rediger did a great job on sunday and it made more sense to me than most of paster craig’s did. Because it was really good advice such as how we shouldn’t look at people and good or bad because of their actions.
Yeah, we need to have college kids preach more often, because they have the stuff fresh on their mind, and they get to see the stuff they learn about in action, and they’re younger and kind of understand the next generation a little better, because they’ve grown up in it.
You said earlier “they would only need the word”, Vince did a great job, but is it not the same word? The way it is preached makes a difference in helping us to understand. Just like the way we live it or “preach” it to others. Are we helping non-believers understand the word we live or are they going away confused?
I agree that it would be great to have more youth step up with teaching from God’s Word, but how many are willing to do that? I would gladly give you a wed night ms ellie
and I agree that the analogy of the moon was a good one. There is a song by Sara Groves that sings about that exact idea. What are your thoughts on the exodus verses?
I liked what Vince said about the Sun,Moon,Earth. God/Holy Spirit shines onto us, and we need to reflect it, clearly. We need to preach the Word clearly to others and show them how Jesus has changed us.
yah, I really liked the way he discribed it that the sun gives light to the moon andd the moon should reflecet it on the earth, unless it has isues or something, but God is the sun, christains are the moon , and the earth is others.

AHH! This is crazy! Time goes by TOO FAST! I love ya all. But nobody loves us more than Jesus does!

I think that in the song we can put many of the things into our lives such as when he says ‘your finding me in the exact same place as new years eve’ I think that says how his heart will not be changed from the knowing of Jesus’ birth and each new year that comes. His heart is still thankful and set on christ not leaving, staying in the exact same place that it was on new years eve.
Sorry I forgot one more thing, that is what we should be doing setting our hearts on god andjesus, and stay that way, like in the semon Vince gave, it’s not your actions, it’s your passion for christ.
Since we seem to be staying on the sermon I would ask this question…..what does God say about the inside affecting the outside? Yes, Vince had a great clip from batman that spoke about what we do on the outside that matters or defines you, so what does that say about our insides? Can they be different? Also, how can you link that to the ten commandments and God’ rule for our living?
Well, if you have a bad inside, then its going to show eventually on the inside. Just because you say you are something on the inside, doesn’t mean you mean it on the inside. If we follow God’s commandments on the inside, it’ll show on the outside, and we’ll be reflecting God’s light.
thou shall not steal, thou shall not murder, thou shall not commit idolutry, thou shall not commit adultry, thou shall not envy their neighbors, ummmm i forget the rest. any way, i read exodus 19 and it was about how moses lead the people in the desert of Sinai and how the Lord was going to apear on mt Sinai, and how nothing was suppose to touch it, for it was holy.

this song reminds us that we should not only celebrate jesus during his birthday but all year long. i think that if we go with an attitude like that, we will be able to be a blessing to everyone around us because we will constantly be able to show his love towards others.
i’ve always been a “rules girl”… i like knowing what i can and can’t do so i think that’s why i’ve always been interested in the 10 commandments. there are plenty of times in the bible when god says do this or follow me, etc but the 10 commandments flat out tell you what you can and can’t do.
i am SOOO not performing first!!!!!! i read exodus 20. it was about when God made the Ten Commandments, and how God scare the Israelites so that they would not sin. isnt it funny how God wants us to fear him? kinda like how we fear our parents so that we wont disobey them(most of the time). not like horror movie fear! sergei, why don’t you try responding to what other people write as well. This is a conversation, not just “write what you think”, but on that note, to comment on what you said, why do you think you sin every day even though you accepted the death of Jesus for your sins? As a believer you have the Holy Spirit, and the Israelites didn’t. I use to think they were stupid until I realized that they were without the power of His Spirit and sinned, I sin and I HAVE the Spirit. Now I have a little more compassion on them.
i noticed that in the ten commandments that i really forget some of them a lot and i think a lot of them i have done n my life before and i can really remember them and i think how much i was disobeying God and my parents and that maybe i didnt know it back then that it was that bad but it really was and i think it would be good to memorize them just so i dont keep going against the ten commandments wen i do or dont remeber.
Yes, Lyd I think there is something good about memorizing them and I would ask you this question, did you really not know that what you were doing was wrong? Also, Jesus said (in summary) in Matthew 5 and 6 that we need to be careful about not making the law the goal, but loving God and others the Big goals. If you love God more than anything with everything you have and love others as you love yourself you will keep the ten commandments without becoming a Pharisee…does that make sense?

)I wish the break could have lasted longer though…anyways, you guys were talking about this a looooong time ago, but I agree that it does seem strange to give presents to one another on someone elses birthday. And it’s weird for non-christians to celebrate Christmas, they just really don’t know the meaning!(Or maybe they do, but they just want presents…hee hee hee I enjoy presents too though.)This video is really good because it shows that the person singing is grateful to God for sending his son when there was no hope for us. It’s hard to imagine GOD sending his SON to die for me!! It’s so cool!! By the way, I changed my name!
This (even though you might think that it isnt) is about the Ten Commandments that God gave Moses. I was sitting in my room, doing homework, eating, and watching a movie (yup! I’m a multitasker!!). That movie just so happened to be: ‘Indiana Jones: and the Raiders of the Lost Ark’. We were talking about that movie in school (Mr. Pitcsh’s class) because were we studying the Holicost in Germany. This dude named Friedrich (Fried Rich is how Lydia remembers it XD) was a Jew, and his Church thing had the Ark, and they took out the two stone tablets that had the Ten Commandments on them. They basically worshiped them. Now, in the movie, they were searching for the Ark so that they can get the Stone Tablets and rule the earth with the mighty power. When they opened the Ark, all they saw was sand, and then lightning came out, and attacked them. The ‘mighty power’ that they were going to use to overtake the earth killed them all, and pulled them all into the Ark. My question is: Why is the power bad or evil, and Where are the actual stone tablets now?
Cant wait till Wednesday! I NEED TO PRACTICE MY BUTT OFF, with the new song ofcourse… Lets just hope that Wendy or whoever doesnt forget this time!! hehehahahah!!! XD) The song made me think: “What if we did write a note to God, telling him about all of the things that we hope to happen with the world: Peace, Love, Happiniess.. Everything.
