I think that the lyrics are saying that they (the person) is now with god and now his life is changed. Also that Know he can see his path with god leading him. And his path isnt all confusing anymore.

Wow I’m the first blog! I think the lyrics are trying to say that at first we feel like there is no one guiding us, and we are all alone. But later on in the lyrics, the person accepted christ and feels gods love for him, and that he KNOWS that there is a god who cares for us and watches over us. But he says for god to light up the sky so that he can really see if god is there, and he doubts that there is a God. Just like what we were talking about in sunday school, if you can’t see God, we make things that might look some what like God so that we can know we are not talking to nothing (but sometimes we start to worship those things we created.)

I think the lyrics are talking about how we all feel before Christ. We’re lost, feeling alone, not knowing what to do, and then Jesus comes. We feel…alive. We know we’re not alone. The lyrics are talking about how they feel when they meet Jesus, “You’ve opened my eyes so I can see You are around me”.

I love how the song starts out when it seems we are all alone….those times when we are tired and crabby and it seems everyone is poopy we want God to show us what He does for us, but really He just needs to open our eyes to see everything He’s already doing for us. I really think this is relevant in all of our lives. When our doubt consumes us, we can’t see. It clouds around us and makes us blind. We are left in the dark, and we need God to “light up the sky” to show us how to find Him again. This really questions my faith. Where am I right now? Can I see God, or am I doubting that he is really there? Whenever we are in the dark, God opens our eyes and shows us where he is, because even if we can’t see him… he is right there with us.
Good point. Sin, shame, doubt closes in and we feel lost, but God can clear the haze. We need Him to help us see.

Well like i said i think the lyrics are talking about when u have given up and u think there is no where else to go, turn to God. God will always help us no mattter what condition we are in. You can always turn to God when you are in trouble because he will never forsake us or lead us the wrong way.
Can you turn to God if your just looking for forgiveness but not really wanting to follow Him? Can you turn to God if you’re not looking for Jesus’ payment for your sin?
Well if you don’t want to follow Him, then you can’t be forgiven because you don’t have the Holy Spirit in you. If you want to turn to God, you have to love Him and believe that Jesus died for us.
No because we turn to him the most when we are in a hard place or need forgiveness. But the Bible says that we should follow God no matter what what condition our lives are in. So yes we should turn to him when we need forgiveness, but we should not just turn to him when we need forgiveness. We should turn to him whenever something happens in our life no matter if it is good or bad. Surgei signing out!

The music video was really cool though, the things that effect our lifes in the 20th centry, devorce, thoughts of suicide and cancer pacent. I realy did thnk the guy was going to turn away from the Lord…. that would sadly but still be a real thing that happens in life. 
Yes Splash, because sometimes people do reject the Holy Spirit because they blame Him for the bad things in our lives. The lyrics say that even though we think we’re alone, and that God doesn’t love us, He shows us these little things that just unleash all the pain, and let us know that Hes with us. It just makes us. For example, one day I was just down, and we didn’t have youth group so I wasn’t looking forward to anything, and I felt tired and behind on school. Then I walked into the band room and went over to get my saxophone and I saw that Aaron and Justin had left my lock undone so I didn’t have to get out the paper that had the combination on it. It made me realize how much I was thankful that the boys took my saxophone to band every morning. It made the rest of the day better.
I agree with charlette.WOW! That is a great vidio and I liove that song and I herd it in the middle of the night last night at about 3:00 at night! isnt that odd? I fell asleep with my radio on and when I woke up and a odd time it happened to be playing! The vidio I see is about how these people are going through a rough time in their lives and are now just going to give up because there is no hope. Then they all have a box (or what at first looked like a bible that has a lid)and when they opened it it something that will help them light up the sky and calm them down and remind them that the lord is there and will provid for you. I like you example ellie and it was really nice of them to do that. My sister had to wake me up for school one day because I had turned off my timer at 5:30 and feel back to sleep and she woke me up at 6:40 giving me a half an hour to make my luch, brush my teeth, do my hair, get my stuff ready for my volleyball game after school, and eat breakfast. So she also made me breakfast and I was very releaved and my stress of being late for school was gone. it was hard to let her serve me though because at first I didnt want her to make me breakfast, I waited till I had 10 minutes left before I gave in.
That’s aweseom Reepi. I love when God will wake us up at the strangest times, to hear a song or be late lol. Both have a meaning. First one He was letting you know that yes, He knows the details and He is your light and How aweseome is that? Being late was purposeful cause it made our Christ group discussion come to life, awesome!

Well, I really liked the part where everyone was going through a difficult time (like charley said) and then God came into their lives and gave them a purpose. Thats great Reepicheep! I say “let them serve you if its good!’ jk

And Ellie, I know exactly how you feel! I always feel depressed when I don’t get to go to youth group (like I will be gone on Sunday

It didn’t make sense at first, and I was wondering, then I guess I “saw the light.” I realized that the people, whatever was on the note, (bible verse or something hopeful to them?) made them realize that God really does light up the sky.
Also I noticed that the Light up the sky part happens when the people find out the worst thing has happened. It’s like what they’re thinking, like I need you Lord. It shows what I think everybody feels. When we’re in a pickle, we won’t God to just take it away. But sometimes we have to search for the good things He’s given us. It makes us love Him more. At the end, when they’re happy, it made me realize that even if it’s a small problem, we should be rejoicing exactly like those people did, because it shows that God Cares!!!
i agree! i know for me it takes something bad happening to me or to someone i love to make me realize god is there and can help me through it but i don’t thank him for all the good things he does. it’s like sunday’s sermon by rich rollins when he was talking about writing down all the good things we have and what we’re thankful for…

i think what the video is means is like a whole bunch of different people but with the people no matter wahts wrong with them, they might just think the Lord hates them, and then they turn aeay from them and its just in the video no matter what was wrong with them, they always faced Him.
sometimes until you’re faced with tragedy or a hardship you don’t realize god is around you and there for you until you need to lean on him. sometimes it turns you against him a little more but it’s an amazing feeling when something happens and you realize he loves you and he’ll never leave you and he lights up the sky!

So, one day when my dad was over… He shot the puppy right infront of my dad..’ Me: “AHH!!!! *hit head on desk*’ Everyone: “DUDE!!!’ Boys: “AWESOME!!!” Girls: “You are all sooo gross..” My friend Rachel: “Awwe!! It’s okay Danielle!! DONT CRY!!” Me: “I’m SORRY! IT’S JUST SO..” Mr. Pitsch laughs. Later in the day: Mom’s Email- Mr. Pitsch: “Your daughter was a pleasure to have in class today, she showed her emotions to animals during student life.. haha Danielle, that’s pretty cool. “Immediate Termination” means that he has to leave right then, and that hes fired. He lost his job, the women was a cancer patient (I think, or just sick) and the women just got divorced. They were all sad and feeling hopeless, and then God showed up, and hope was brought back again. But as Amy said, they’re problems didn’t go away, but they have God on there side, so they can face anything.
i agree with you (i think you’re ellie lol). once you realize you have god on your side, you really can face anything and even though your horrible problems aren’t going away, you realize you’re strong enough to face them with god’s help!
I totally agree with Disciple Dude. in the video every person is going through difficult times like divorce or being fired from a job and at the time it doesn’t seem like God is there at the time but he is. He is just testing you to see if you will trust in him through the tough times. But then God opens their eyes and shows them that He’s there.

I think the boxes are Bibles that people have around them, but don’t really notice until times are tough. Then, they see them, pick them up and find that there are very personal, and applies to your life kind-of instruction. There is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much good stuff that God has written down for us that applies totally to our lives if we will just pick it up and read it! Then, it stirs us up and lights us up (by the power of the Holy Spirit) and we light up other peoples sky with hope and love. AWESOME STUFF, and the video made the song way way way more meaningful.

I think that the video was showing hoiw people were having problems and they didnt really know what to do and they were vey depressed I think about it, and then they got this box which had something to do with the Lord maybe and inside it had a sparkler and they would set it, kind of like a sign that God was lighting up the sky and letting them all know they were all there.
And also what goes along with that was that i dont think that when they had those bad things happen to them, I dont think that they were trusting in the Lord right then and there and then when they “lit up the sky” they remembered.

Okay! Well I went to the website and typed in ‘hope’ and found Job 4:5-6:
But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged; it strikes you, and you are dismayed. Should not your piety be your confidence and your blameless ways your hope?
OOps! I didn’t mean to send! Anyways. I think that this means that when we are going through tough times it should be were we have more hope and not less and I think that becausewhen we are struggling we have a big reason to want to have god there right? So if we have a big struggle god should expect us to have hope that he will be there to help (or not which ever works!), because when is he not there?
Never is he not there! This I think we can relate to or lives is by when we have a big stuggle or problem we should have hope and not dread because god is there and he will help you know what to do.
Okay, I think we are on question 4…I guess. I think this song speaks to what we believe by when it says “you opened my eyes so I can see you all around me” It’s like God really opened our eyes, and now we can see him, and we can trust in him. And when we become a christian, we know what we need to do, and we get a stronger friendship with God.
I think this song shows that even though we all experience bad times, and sometimes feel like God isn’t there, He is. So even when the situation seems hopeless, we should have hope, and be the rock that holds others together. We should on the inside be able to see and recognize the “lights” that are with us now.
Job 14:7- ‘For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.’
This verse is talking about how we have bad times, and that might bring us and others down, but we’re always hoping that we will ‘sprout’ again, and try again. We should get stronger through our falls, and really try to connect with God.

i miss all you that i dont see at school! any way i found Psalms 42:5 and it says, ” why are you so downcast, O my soul? why so disturbed within me? put your hope in God, for i will yet praise him, my savior and my God.” this verse is talking about us being so down and depressed when hit a bump in the road, but all we need to do is keep hope in God, and praise him.

I think these verses are saying that we were once belonging to sin, and we had no hope at first, but then God showed us the way, and gave us hope.

that gigglsomething guy made me feel really, extremely small today. I was talking to my friends and everyone thought they were so big and important and cool, and then I thought, we are so small, that everything we do is probably worthless. but God created us, and he cares for us, even when we are so small, that he could probably barely see us! I mean, we squish a bug without even thinking about it, we are like a bug…no…smaller than that, and he loves us and cares for us, and he DIED for us! Its like a person picking up a bug, and giving it everything it needs to live, and then to BECOME a bug, and die for it!!! a BUG!!! Since when did people start caring about bugs??? I think that we can open our hearts the people who are having troubles in their life, and introduce them to God. Because then, they will have Him guiding them through the tough times. If people would just open THEIR hearts to God, then they will see that their lives can be easier than they are now. People just dont respect that about God. Like what we learned in Christ Groups! There are THOUSANDS of cross’ that are holding us together in our body. They’re called: Laminin! They’re shaped like a cross, and tells every cell what to do in your body, holds together your skin, your eyes, you hair… Everything. If I were to tell them all about that, they would be bewildered like how I was the time that I learned that! WHO’S WITH ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?! <3

). Off topic: Today for drama, I had to try on my costume. My name is Lullaby in the play, and I’m (supposed to be) a sweet little 12 year old girl. My costume is a long pink and white dress with ruffles on the side. I had to go up on stage and show everyone!!!! (just to let you know, I do not like dresses, or for that matter pink, pink buttons or ruffles…so this should be interesting…) On topic: That’s perfect how you put it Ellie, if God cares for us and DIED for us, we should at least show some kindness to the others around us. It’s really encouraging to know that God cares for something that is so small, that we would be invisable to a normal person. See you Yamaicans at jens! I think the lyrics mean that we can’t really comprehend how much God loves us. It’s a no-brainer. Hmmm, God magnificent, glorious everlasting love, or….sin. We might feel like we’re giving up everything to follow Jesus, but His love is all that we need.

love so incredible….I like the idea of finding everything I ever need by giving up being everything. Right now there are so many possibilities and things to do that sometimes its almost overwhelming. Like wanting to play different instruments, but truth be told I really love playing the guitar and don’t play it near enough as I want to. I agree Amy! It doesn’t make a lot of sense at FIRST. But I think when it says when you let go it will give you a better grip, is that if you let go and let God handle it, it will be in an even better grip than before. And I think what you are having a “grip” on is life and the world, and the people around us, and God is much better at griping that!
OH! I get it now! that makes so much sense besause for example in the lyrics it says a sinking of a ship, so if you were on a sinking ship it woouldn’t do you any good to hold on because your going to sink anyway, so if you let go your now trusting god and not the sinking ship. And I don’t think that’s mckenzie.

I was making a sandwich today.. Actually, like 15 minutes ago, and I heard in the background, South Park. My brother was watching it, and laughing along with all of the Jokes. I usually sit down, and watch a little with him, but then I heard them making fun of the Bible. I actually DROPPED THE KNIFE I WAS USING. It almost hit my foot, and I marched in the living room, and turned off the TV. So, if you think that I’m pretty protective, and sensitive about the Bible, wait and see what I do to people who say God’s name in vain! i freak out, and even sometimes people who ATTEND OUR CHURCH says it too! I dont want to put Emily on the spot.. But I heard her two days ago saying God’s name in vain in EVERY sentence she spoke. I told her to stop, and she’s been better at it. Now, if only people would stop saying: ‘God is stupid! He doesnt exist! Christian are SO GULABLE’ around me!! I just wanna push them against the wall, and set them straight, but I dont. I occasionally do something that isnt bad, but isnt nice either. Like walk behind them, and lightly, but harder than a tap, kick them in the back of their knee, causing them to kinda stumble a little to the right. UGH!! HOW I REALLY REALLY REALLLYYY DISLIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THOSE STUFF!!

Yeah, Danielle I know what you mean about hearing a song or watching a show and thinking its no big deal and then the Holy Spirit whacks you in the head and your like “oh blast it! that’s not ok!” but remember the important things like 1) look at your sin first 2)ask whether the people are believers or not and if not, then pray and find ways to share Jesus’ LOVE with them, not poopiness cuz poopiness doesn’t save people lol and if they are believers then YES you need to call them on it in the way YOU would want to be called on it, right? right. Jesus didn’t throw you into heaven He LOVED you into heaven

Go Danielle! You tell that television! I hope you had a good Birthday Jen! But yeah, like at lunch I’ll hear people making fun of God, and the bible. One day I heard people say, “heaven is probably so boring, you probably listen to the news and read, but hell is probably so cool, I can’t wait to go there.” I almost exploded! I seriously wanted to yell into their face and say “what is wrong with you, why on earth would you WANT to go to hell?!” (I did not actually do that though.) Then I got mad at my self for wanting to slap them, because I as a Christian should be telling people about God and how awesome he is. It’s really sad that people don’t really know what hell is like, and it’ll be too late to leave once you get there. Sometimes I just wish God would come down and tell everyone himself, because I am so bad at it, and I always feel really guilty for not saying anything to anyone, even though I have a great thing to tell them.

Exactly. I think that maybe, like at school, we could get together and have a small Bible session. Maybe just pray for each other. Yeah, most of the time we look at others, and judge them, and say, ‘well you said that yadda yadda yadda’ but we need to first look at ourselves, then look to God for the answers. Then we pray, then we love them, as God did to us. We should always love someone, because like in the song, it says, You’re never gonna go. That’s what we need to be like.
A small bible session would be awesome! Now I want to go to baker and read the bible with you!! I do look at other people and think,’oh, look how horrible they are and look at their language’ and then I say to myself, ‘how are you showing yourself and are you being a good example of christ?’ most of the time the answer is ‘no’ and I try hard to get to know someone, before I judge them. It is going to be hard!
Have you ever opened your bible and it goes with exactly whats going on in you life? That happens to me a lot!!And it makes me what to grab my bible, turn it to a random page, and see what it is about. It is really cool what you find! And like today at church I realized how much I use sarcasum and how it can hurt people a lot somtimes and this week I am going to try to stay away from sarcasum.
Also I wanted to say that there is a kid a my school that is a ‘looser’ to many people and almost every time I try to be nice to him he will insult me and it then hurts me and I get really mad and angry at him and it is hard to put away my anger and get rid of it, but I still try to be nice. And Ellie you have a very good point that we think of how horrible other people are doing and don’t even notice your own falts. like the saying, ‘don’t go trying to get the speck out of you neibor’s eye when you have a log in yours’. That is very hard for me.

I didn’t mean to post that but…anyways, yeah, we shouldn’t be saying to others, “you are so bad, don’t use bad language” and stuff like that. But when we look at our own lives, anyone could say the same thing to us (well probably any of us could). I think that might be what I need to work on, is pointing out other peoples mistakes, when I already have plenty of my own. I also need to work on patience, I always keep telling people (or thinking) hurry up, I’m going to be late for something. And like I had a ton of homework, but I needed to clean the kitchen, so I went really fast and didn’t do the best job in the world because I was impatient to get my homework done.
That can get really frustrating and difficult to be in that curcumstance. I have those a lot! I woke up at 6:40 and I leave the house at, usually, 7:10 so I only had a hlf an hour to get dressed and get ready. It was a rough day. Anyways, in the lyrics, because th vidio’s not up yet, it says ‘i’m finding everything i’ll ever need’ and I think that he has just become a christian/beliver and is realizing thatgod has everything that you’ll ever need. and that is really cool! Imagine how much we have and god has everything and can do anything and that is really nice to know, but like we talked about, very scary, until you understand that he is a loving god and loves you very, very, much. That makes you feel very much releved because if he wern’t loving he could do anything he wanted still and would probably not like you beecause you human, and you would probably be gone. (He wouldn’t have died for our sins.) Very scary!

we talked yesterday about the “letting go”, or ” taking that out of the closet”, that made me realize that i need to take off apart of myself, i have 2 different personalities. in church, or christ group, i’m what you might call a “church kid”. but at school i’m a judging person. i’m impatient with this kid at school when i should show him compassion. you try to be nice to him but he brings you down for it. ( this is the same person Amy is talking about). i’m so judging againt him! i hate it. last night’s i guess i need to let go of that part of me.
yep my young padawan….just remember all the times that God has loved you when you spurned His attempts to be nice to you as well. That’s a helpful way we can love people that are hateful, well and knowing that God will take care of it in the end.
